Chris qualified from the University of Northumbria in 1999 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy.  He has worked extensively across a variety of clinics and settings throughout the North East and Teesside. His experience includes private clinics, occupational health, sports injuries and NHS work. 

In addition to managing the clinic at Sunderland, Chris currently leads two occupational health contracts based in the region, having previously spent 7 years in the physiotherapy department at Nissan. 

Chris’s philosophy is a holistic but ‘hands on’ approach to physiotherapy treatment, whilst also being acupuncture qualified. He is keen on treating a variety of conditions, but particularly ones that have be present for a while, such as chronic spinal conditions. 

Chris is available for appointments on a Tuesday/Friday and alternate Wednesdays. 


Mark Henderson
Senior Physiotherapist and Clinic Manager

Mark graduated from Northumbria University in 2009 and spent 5 years working at Sunderland Royal Hospital. He then moved into private practice and has a special interest in Occupational Health. 

Mark is trained in Acupuncture and the Mckenzie method for spinal pain. He is focused on a hands on approach to getting people better and is passionate about getting people back to doing the activities they enjoy.

Mark is available for appointments on Monday and Tuesdays.

John completed a BSc (hons) degree in Sports Therapy in 2005 and then relocated to Sheffield to complete a masters in Sports Injury & Medicine at Sheffield University and Sheffield Centre of Sports Medicine (SCSM). He then relocated back to Teesside to work as a graduate Sports Therapist before attending Teesside University in January 2008 to complete a 2 year postgraduate diploma in physiotherapy.

He has gained a wealth of experience from working in different musculoskeletal environments which include occupational physiotherapy, NHS (GP surgeries & health centres), private practice and sport (semi-professional and professional football). John has over 10 years’ experience working in the fitness industry as a fitness consultant and personal trainer.

Since qualifying as a physiotherapist he has completed further courses which include functional assessment and treatments of the lumbar spine, sacroiliac joint and pelvis and has completed a foundation degree in acupuncture. John enjoys treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and carrying out sports massage which includes deep tissue massage, myofascial release and trigger point release.

John is registered with the Health & care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).

Outside of work John enjoys general strength & conditioning and fitness at the gym, walking his dog and watching Hawaii 5-0. He also enjoys watching Rugby league, NFL and Italian football.
